Having read the report in the True Buddha News that sariras were found after the cremation of convicts from Changi Prison, my tears went rolling. The letters written by them were so touching that even an iron man will not hold back his tears!

Apart from practitioners who are highly enlightened as to know their own timing of death, only two other kinds of people will know their final moments: those who are suffering from terminal illnesses such as cancer and convicts who are awaiting execution. They know that their deaths will be anything but pleasant. The thought of an impending death and the electric chair already makes one suffer a great deal. Not to mention the dreadful moment of struggling one must go through before death. The fear must be truly immense.

If one has the choice to live on, who will choose death? Especially when the person is still young, has a loving mother, a beautiful wife and a very young child. These convicts in Changi Prison (Singapore), however, were able to remain calm and face their deaths with confidence and optimism. They are really of a special breed. The calmness and optimism were no pretension. They knew that they had something to fall back on – they had taken refuge in Living Buddha Lian Sheng and practiced the True Buddha Tantra. And they knew for sure that after their deaths, they would be reborn into the Buddha Land!
